Dave's Senior Moments

This is a funny moment that I had one summer day! Steve, Janet and the kids were up for a few days to visit . This was summer of 2008. I was having a bout of gout that weekend and I could hardly walk it has very painful. The and kids wanted to go to the zoo. Well it was a nice warm day so I said instead of paying parking I would drive them to the gate and come back when they called from the zoo. So we all got into Steve's van and made it to the gate of the zoo and I took over driving and went back home to wait for the call. I got home only to realize that I did not put my keys in my pocket so I was stuck outside for the whole time. I sat out in the back yard for a while when I realized that I did not take my cell phone. I sat for awhile and decided to go to the neighbor to phone Mike at home and see if he could drive over and let me in the house. I walked over to the neighbors; remember I had this bad case of gout and my feet hurt real bad. The neighbor saw me coming up the drive and knew that I was having problems with my feet so asked what was wrong. I told him and he said that he had some pill to help it. He also let me call Mike at home. Mike was out with his family so that was a dead end for getting into the house. I thought well I will just sit close to the house and I would hear the phone and just go and get the kids. Well it got to be about 5:00pm and I thought that the zoo closed around that time. I just went and waited for them by parking in a clinic parking lot across from the zoo. I had to walk over to the zoo entrance and wait until they showed up. What a day. But the meds the neighbor gave me worked good enough to make the rest of the weekend a little better for me.
This is about a six months later and the kids again came up for a weekend and guess what, I was having a qout attck again. This time I just told them that they could go to the stores shopping without me. I stayed home with their little dog Dorsie. She needed to go out so I had a sweat shirt on so I just stepped out and tied the dog up and started to go back in the house and found that I had shut the door and it locked behind me. You got it - I was stuck outside with the dog, no keys to get in or phone to call Mike again. Well this time a neighbor two doors down was out in the yard so I went over to ask him if I could use the phone. He asked why and I told him what had happened. He just gave me his truck keys and said just drive up and get them and take the dog along. I did that and this time Mike was at home. I got the keys and drove back home only to find that Pete and his girlfriend were in the house and the door was now open. Yep I had done it again and we just laughed about it.
